Aare Vibes
There is not much we enjoy more on a hot summer day than dipping our feet into the refreshing coolness of the the Aare river. Extending 288 kilometers, the Aare is the longest river flowing entirely within Switzerland. It is also the river of many beautiful hues - there is even an entire website dedicated to the colors of the Aare. (www.aarefarbe.ch). And it is of course an integral part of Bernese culture. As soon as the river is no longer freezing cold, the "Aareschwumm" is a very beloved past-time. Depending on where you want to go, it is also quite possible to cram everything important into a wetbag or scuba bag and simply let the Aare take you there. A refreshing way to "travel" from A to B.
If you just want to dip your toes in the water and enjoy a spectacular view of the city, we prefer sitting on the steps at the Bärengraben. because we just love data. and the most refreshing views in town.
